Do this in order: sell open positions, withdraw everything, confirm the balance is zero, then request deletion from the app's settings. Reversing those steps is how people lock themselves out of funds they still owned.
Empty the account first — this is the whole warning
A FOMO account is a non-custodial wallet powered by Privy, and the wallet is reached through your login. Removing the login is the step that matters. Do not request deletion while a balance or an open position remains.
Close every position
Sell back to SOL or a stablecoin. Each sale is charged at the normal trading fee — see what the exit costs before you assume the number.
Withdraw everything
To your bank (FOMO states within 3 business days) or to a wallet you control. Full detail on the withdrawal page.
Confirm zero, including dust
Small leftover token balances are easy to miss and often not worth the fee to sell. Decide deliberately rather than by accident.
Request deletion in settings
Account settings, then the delete or close option. If it is not there, contact support through the app.
What deletion does not undo
- Your trading history for tax. Realised gains and losses remain reportable in most jurisdictions whether or not the account exists. Export or screenshot your history before you close, because afterwards you cannot. FOMO's own guidance on this sits under its tax answer page, and your national tax authority is the actual source — for example the IRS digital assets guidance.
- On-chain transactions. Every trade is permanently recorded on a public blockchain. Closing an app account does not remove anything from Solana.
- Records the company must keep. Payment processors and the platform retain certain records under their own legal obligations. FOMO's privacy policy is the document that governs this.
You may not need to delete anything
Two alternatives are worth considering first, because deletion is permanent and the alternatives are not:
Withdraw and walk away. An empty account costs nothing to leave open. There are no account fees, no inactivity charges, and nothing to maintain. If your reason for closing is spending discipline, deleting the app from your phone achieves that without destroying your records.
Keep it for the referral side. Your account has a referral code, and the affiliate programme pays commission in real time on trades your referrals make, with no cap and no requirement that you trade at all. An account you have stopped using can still earn.
If you are leaving over cost
Worth diagnosing before you go. FOMO's 0.50% is competitive — half of GMGN's 1% and below Axiom's best cashback tier. The thing that makes it feel expensive is the $0.95 Solana minimum on trades under about $190, which is a trade-size problem rather than a platform problem. The same behaviour would cost more elsewhere. The alternatives page lays out where each venue actually wins.
One thing to note before you close
You cannot re-apply a referral code later. If you delete this account and open a new one, enter a code during signup — it is the only moment the field exists, and it is worth 10% off every trading fee for the life of the account.
