FOMO is the rare crypto app you can learn in one sitting. This guide walks through the full cycle — account, funding, first trade, copy trading, and getting your money out — with the mistakes to avoid at each step.
1. create your account (do this part right)
Download FOMO from the App Store or Google Play, or use the web app at fomo.family. During signup the app shows a referral code field. Enter VIP10 there — it gives the account 10% off trading fees for life, and the app never asks again. You cannot add a code to an existing account.
Sign in with Apple or Google. FOMO creates an embedded wallet for you — there is no seed phrase to write down.

2. verify the discount
Before you fund anything: open Settings → Rewards and confirm the fee discount shows as active. It takes ten seconds and removes any doubt.
3. fund the account
Three ways in, fastest first:
- Apple Pay or card: instant. The payment provider adds a spread, so compare the quoted total against market price.
- Crypto deposit: cheapest. Send SOL or USDC to your FOMO address; only network fees apply.
- Transfer from an exchange: withdraw from your exchange to the FOMO deposit address. Test with a small amount first.
Fund enough to trade in blocks of $200 or more — FOMO's $0.95 minimum fee makes smaller trades disproportionately expensive.
4. make your first trade
Pick a token from the Trending or Verified list. The token page shows the chart, holders, and recent trades by people you follow. Tap Buy, choose an amount, and check two lines before you confirm: the fee and the slippage. On volatile tokens, set slippage manually rather than accepting the auto value.

5. use the social layer — it is the whole point
Follow five to ten traders with long profitable histories (the leaderboard shows verified PnL). Turn on alerts for the ones you trust. When several of them buy the same token within minutes, that is the signal the app was built to surface. Copy trading executes the same trade proportionally to your balance, in one tap.

6. withdraw
Two exits: sell to USDC and withdraw to a bank-connected exchange, or send tokens to an external wallet. Open your balance, choose Withdraw, and check the quoted network fee before confirming. Do a small test withdrawal the first time — it costs cents and confirms the full cycle works.
fixes for the common errors
"Failed to buy" / "failed to sell"
- Raise slippage: volatile tokens move faster than the default tolerance.
- Retry during congestion: Solana peak activity causes dropped transactions. Thirty seconds later usually works.
- Check the token: if selling fails repeatedly with high slippage, the token itself may restrict selling. The Verified tab exists to filter these out.
Is FOMO down?
When nothing executes, check three things in order: FOMO's X account for status posts, a Solana status page for network congestion, and your own connection. Most "FOMO is down" moments are Solana congestion and pass within minutes.
Referral field missing
The field only appears during account creation. If you finished signup without it, the discount cannot be added later.
